Who is Tiia Ourila-Thorpe?
Tiia is a full-time yoga teacher, Director of Yoga Kula Victoria Quarter, and a lifelong advocate for the power of movement. Her journey into yoga began during her career as a professional dancer — an environment that was both exhilarating and highly demanding. Amid intense training, rehearsals, and performances, yoga became the grounding practice that kept her balanced, centred, and connected to herself. It offered calm, clarity, and restoration, ultimately shaping her path into a dedicated career in yoga and wellbeing.
Alongside her yoga work, Tiia continues to teach within the dance industry, supporting both professional dancers and students in advanced training. She has a Master’s degree in Dance Teaching and Education, giving her a strong foundation in creating environments that support focus, safety, and growth. Today, she brings that same philosophy into every yoga class she delivers — crafting sessions that are meaningful, well-structured, restorative, and always taught with care.
Tiia is known for her attention to detail and her ability to transform a space through thoughtful touches. She often incorporates essential oils, incense, grounding shoulder or neck massages, and supportive physical adjustments to help students unwind fully. Her teaching style is highly versatile, offering everything from dynamic, energising flows to deeply restorative and meditative practices. Whether a group needs a slow, nourishing reset or something that brings energy and focus into the day, she tailors each session with intention.

2. Drive & Thrive (Energising Office Yoga)
Tiia’s signature mid-day corporate yoga class designed to lift mood and replenish energy. The focus is on gently mobilising joints affected by prolonged sitting, strengthening postural muscles, improving breathing patterns, and leaving employees refreshed and mentally reset for the rest of the day.

Outside of teaching, Tiia is happiest when she’s moving — whether cycling, walking in nature, or keeping up with her beautiful blended family, who ensure she never stays still for long. As a native Finn, she also has a deep love for the sauna. She once had one at home and would happily go every day. These joys keep her energised, inspired, and connected to the world around her — feelings she brings warmly into her classes.
