As part of HSBC’s Technology Risk and Control team, you’ll be leading how risk frameworks are not just designed—but brought to life. Turning policy into practical execution. Translating complexity into clarity. And ensuring that governance isn’t a tick-box exercise, but a strategic enabler.

You’ll work with senior stakeholders, influence executive decision-making, and directly contribute to strengthening cybersecurity, operational resilience, and control effectiveness across the organisation.


What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will:

  • Simplify and standardise Technology Risk & Control processes across GCIO to improve efficiency without reducing control rigour
  • Enhance the Risk & Control Assessment (RCA) approach to generate insights that drive clear risk ownership and action
  • Lead governance for Risk & Control Management Meetings and executive forums
  • Provide oversight and constructive challenge on risk decisions to ensure alignment with policy and regulatory expectations
  • Support engagement with internal and external audit functions
  • Draft high-quality Board and regulatory materials that clearly communicate risk posture and mitigation strategies

What success looks like

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Hands-on experience in technology risk management, governance, and frameworks
  • Strong knowledge of operational resilience, cybersecurity, and IT risk frameworks (such as NIST, COBIT, ITIL)
  • The ability to translate complex risk landscapes into clear, executive-level insights
  • Confidence in engaging senior stakeholders and influencing at board level
  • Experience leading and developing teams
